Worship Team Purpose & Guidelines

Purpose
The purpose of the Crossroads Church of Hillside Worship Team is to allow the Holy Spirit to use team members, together with their particular gifts and talents, to lead the congregation to praise and worship God and magnify the Lord Jesus Christ.

Methods
To accomplish our purpose as outlined above, we must:

1.  Maintain a close relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ in our own personal time.

2.  Prior to practice sessions, learn the songs (on our own) to the best of our ability.  Materials such as song lyrics, sheet music, YouTube links, etc., will be provided.
  • Learn song elements as fitting of our role(s) as instrumentalist and/or vocalist.
  • Song elements include chords, keys, melody, rhythm, words, etc.
3.  Blend our voices and instruments together during practice, striving for excellence and bringing Christ our very best.

4.  To the best of our ability, come to practices as often and as timely as possible.
  • Sunday mornings are dedicated to rehearsal time and to igniting our own worship so that we can lead the congregation to praise and worship God by our example.
  • If you must miss one or two practices in a given month, please let the ministry lead or a team member know.
5.  Encourage, respect, and protect one another as you would your own family.
  • Recognize that our team members represent a wide range of backgrounds, musical abilities, and experience.  God has called all of us to fulfill his kingdom purpose and plan.
  • Pray for and say kind words to one another on a regular basis.
  • Be open to the ideas of other team members.
  • Keep anger and jealousy from entering into your heart with respect to other team members.  Do not gossip about one another.
  • Understand that evil forces opposed to the kingdom of God (Satan, the world, and even our own flesh) could hinder our praise of Christ.  We may feel the pressure of these forces from within or outside of our team.  Be on guard!
Guidelines
Three teams, the Adult team, the Youth team, and the Combined team (i.e., adults and youth) will support Crossroads worship services and occasional outreach events.  Periodically we will feature a children's choir during special services (e.g., Easter or Christmas).  Practice schedule times are set forth on the church calendar.
